Praise for God’s Mighty Works — May 27

Psalms 64-68

Psalms 64

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my [a] meditation; Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. 365N 147.1

2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, 365N 147.2

3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words, 365N 147.3

4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear. 365N 147.4

5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter; They talk of laying snares secretly; They say, “Who will see them?” 365N 147.5

6 They devise iniquities: “We have perfected a shrewd scheme.” Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep. 365N 147.6

7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly they shall be wounded. 365N 147.7

8 So He will make them stumble over their own tongue; All who see them shall flee away. 365N 147.8

9 All men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider His doing. 365N 147.9

10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord , and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory. 365N 147.10

Psalms 65

1 Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; And to You the [a] vow shall be performed. 365N 147.11

2 O You who hear prayer, To You all flesh will come. 365N 147.12

3 Iniquities prevail against me; As for our transgressions, You will provide atonement for them. 365N 147.13

4 Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple. 365N 147.14

5 By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of the far-off seas; 365N 147.15

6 Who established the mountains by His strength, Being clothed with power; 365N 147.16

7 You who still the noise of the seas, The noise of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples. 365N 147.17

8 They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs; You make the outgoings of the morning and evening [b] rejoice. 365N 147.18

9 You [c] visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it; The river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, For so You have prepared it. 365N 147.19

10 You water its ridges abundantly, You settle its furrows; You make it soft with showers, You bless its growth. 365N 147.20

11 You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance. 365N 147.21

12 They drop on the pastures of the wilderness, And the little hills rejoice on every side. 365N 147.22

13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; The valleys also are covered with grain; They shout for joy, they also sing. 365N 147.23

Psalms 66

1 Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! 365N 147.24

2 Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious. 365N 147.25

3 Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. 365N 147.26

4 All the earth shall worship You And sing praises to You; They shall sing praises to Your name.” Selah 365N 147.27

5 Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. 365N 147.28

6 He turned the sea into dry land; They went through the river on foot. There we will rejoice in Him. 365N 147.29

7 He rules by His power forever; His eyes observe the nations; Do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah 365N 147.30

8 Oh, bless our God, you peoples! And make the voice of His praise to be heard, 365N 147.31

9 Who keeps our soul among the living, And does not allow our feet to [a] be moved. 365N 147.32

10 For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. 365N 147.33

11 You brought us into the net; You laid affliction on our backs. 365N 147.34

12 You have caused men to ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to [b] rich fulfillment. 365N 147.35

13 I will go into Your house with burnt offerings; I will pay You my [c] vows, 365N 147.36

14 Which my lips have uttered And my mouth has spoken when I was in trouble. 365N 147.37

15 I will offer You burnt sacrifices of fat animals, With the sweet aroma of rams; I will offer bulls with goats. Selah 365N 147.38

16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, And I will declare what He has done for my soul. 365N 147.39

17 I cried to Him with my mouth, And He was [d] extolled with my tongue. 365N 147.40

18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear. 365N 147.41

19 But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. 365N 147.42

20 Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, Nor His mercy from me! 365N 147.43

Psalms 67

1 God be merciful to us and bless us, And cause His face to shine upon us, Selah 365N 147.44

2 That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations. 365N 147.45

3 Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. 365N 147.46

4 Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, And govern the nations on earth. Selah 365N 147.47

5 Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. 365N 147.48

6 Then the earth shall [b] yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us. 365N 147.49

7 God shall bless us, And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him. 365N 147.50

Psalms 68

1 Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him. 365N 147.51

2 As smoke is driven away, So drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish at the presence of God. 365N 147.52

3 But let the righteous be glad; Let them rejoice before God; Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly. 365N 147.53

4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol [a] Him who rides on the [b] clouds, By His name [c] Yah , And rejoice before Him. 365N 147.54

5 A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. 365N 147.55

6 God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land. 365N 147.56

7 O God, when You went out before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah 365N 147.57

8 The earth shook; The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel. 365N 147.58

9 You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, Whereby You confirmed Your inheritance, When it was weary. 365N 147.59

10 Your congregation dwelt in it; You, O God, provided from Your goodness for the poor. 365N 147.60

11 The Lord gave the word; Great was the [d] company of those who proclaimed it: 365N 147.61

12 “Kings of armies flee, they flee, And she who remains at home divides the [e] spoil. 365N 147.62

13 Though you lie down among the [f] sheepfolds, You will be like the wings of a dove covered with silver, And her feathers with yellow gold.” 365N 147.63

14 When the Almighty scattered kings in it, It was white as snow in Zalmon. 365N 147.64

15 A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan. 365N 147.65

16 Why do you [g] fume with envy, you mountains of many peaks? This is the mountain which God desires to dwell in; Yes, the Lord will dwell in it forever. 365N 147.66

17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, Even thousands of thousands; The Lord is among them as in Sinai, in the Holy Place. 365N 147.67

18 You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts among men, Even from the rebellious, That the Lord God might dwell there. 365N 147.68

19 Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah 365N 147.69

20 Our God is the God of salvation; And to God the Lord belong escapes from death. 365N 147.70

21 But God will wound the head of His enemies, The hairy scalp of the one who still goes on in his trespasses. 365N 147.71

22 The Lord said, “I will bring back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea, 365N 147.72

23 That [h] your foot may crush them in blood, And the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from your enemies.” 365N 147.73

24 They have seen Your [i] procession, O God, The procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary. 365N 147.74

25 The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; Among them were the maidens playing timbrels. 365N 147.75

26 Bless God in the congregations, The Lord, from the fountain of Israel. 365N 147.76

27 There is little Benjamin, their leader, The princes of Judah and their [j] company, The princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali. 365N 147.77

28 [k] Your God has commanded your strength; Strengthen, O God, what You have done for us. 365N 147.78

29 Because of Your temple at Jerusalem, Kings will bring presents to You. 365N 147.79

30 Rebuke the beasts of the reeds, The herd of bulls with the calves of the peoples, Till everyone submits himself with pieces of silver. Scatter the peoples who delight in war. 365N 147.80

31 Envoys will come out of Egypt; Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God. 365N 147.81

32 Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; Oh, sing praises to the Lord, Selah 365N 147.82

33 To Him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which were of old! Indeed, He sends out His voice, a mighty voice. 365N 147.83

34 Ascribe strength to God; His excellence is over Israel, And His strength is in the clouds. 365N 147.84

35 O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. Blessed be God! 365N 147.85
