Counsel #13 — The Remnant And Its Mission

Picture: Counsel #13 — The Remnant And Its Mission CCL 23.1

The universal church is made up of all who truly believe in Jesus, but in these last days of earth history, at a time of widespread spiritual decline, a special group has emerged: the remnant. CCL 23.2

The faithful remnant has a vital mission -- called to act as messengers, announcing that God's judgment is in progress, but also offering salvation through Christ and sharing the promise of His soon return. This message aligns with the three angels of Revelation 14:6-12. As this appeal spreads, it awakens a sense of repentance and a desire for spiritual renewal across the globe. CCL 23.3

Every believer has a role to play in sharing this message with the world.[30] CCL 23.4

“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—saying with a loud voice, Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” Revelation 14:6, 7 NKJV CCL 23.5

“John foresaw the conflict between the remnant church and the power of evil, and said, ‘The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Ellen G. White in Review and Herald, April 14, 1896, par. 7 CCL 23.6

Reflect: What qualities do you think are essential for someone to be part of the remnant? CCL 23.7
