Counsel #5 — Prophetic Evidence

Picture: Counsel #5 — Prophetic Evidence CCW 105.1

One of the strongest evidences of the authenticity of the Bible is its incredible prophecies written well in advance of the predicted events, showing that God is in ultimate control of the future. Time and again events happened just as the biblical writers predicted (see Amos 3:7). CCW 105.2

Examples of prophecies made hundreds of years prior include Micah’s prediction of Jesus’ birthplace (Micah 5:2), the fall of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome (Daniel 2), the destruction of Tyre (Ezekiel 26:3-5), naming Cyrus as God’s anointed (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1), the suffering of Jesus on Calvary (Isaiah 53) and much more.[162] CCW 105.3

“’Remember the former things of old for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.’” Isaiah 46:9, 10 NKJV CCW 105.4

“Each of the ancient prophets spoke less for their own time than for ours, so that their prophesying is in force for us.” Ellen White in Selected Messages, book 3, p. 338 CCW 105.5
