Counsel #5 — How Should We Live?

Picture: Counsel #5 — How Should We Live? CSe 7.1

To find purpose and meaning in life, we must live to bless others! We are naturally selfish, but when we accept Christ as our Savior, His Holy Spirit transforms our hearts from hard and self-centered to caring, compassionate and self-sacrificing (see Ezekiel 36:36, 37).[5] CSe 7.2

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 NKJV CSe 7.3

“What solidarity Jesus expresses between Himself and His suffering children! He makes their case His own. Their misery is His misery. Take note, selfish Christian: Each neglect of the needy poor, the homeless, the fatherless, the prisoner, is neglect of Jesus…. We are all woven together in the great web of humanity, and whatever we can do to benefit and uplift others will reflect blessings back to us. The law of mutual dependence runs through all classes of society.” Ellen White in adapted English, A Call to Stand Apart, pp. 93, 95 CSe 7.4
