Counsel #4 — Why Are We Here?
Picture: Counsel #4 — Why Are We Here? CSe 6.1
Why are we on earth, and where do we find life’s meaning? King Solomon sought to find meaning in wealth, power, sex with plenty of women, and the acquisition of things. In the end, he found it all meaningless and returned to serving and loving the God of his youth.[4] CSe 6.2
When we pursue God first and seek to be like Him in character, we will find Him as well as the fulfillment and purpose we were seeking (see Matthew 6:33). CSe 6.3
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: ‘Fear [honor, love, respect] God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.” Ecclesiastes 12:14 NKJV CSe 6.4
“God’s purpose for you is wider, deeper, higher than your limited vision has ever imagined! God often picks reliable persons from unlikely places to witness for Him in the world’s highest places. Many a young person today, growing up like Daniel in his Judean home, studying God’s Word and His works, and learning lessons of responsibility, will yet stand in legislative assemblies, in courtrooms, and before royalty, as a witness for the King of kings.” Ellen White in adapted English, A Call to Stand Apart, p. 100 CSe 6.5
Reflect: In what ways have you sought to find meaning in life? CSe 6.6
