Let’s dig a little deeper into the heart of the matter regarding health care as a social AND spiritual issue. The Scriptures make it very clear: Christians have a responsibility to care for the sick and the poor, both locally and globally. This responsibility is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, Who said, "The greatest among you will be the one who serves the others" (Matthew 23:11). Further, Jesus spent more time educating and healing than He did preaching! CSI 133.2
“He’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love…” Micah 6:8 The Message CSI 133.3
“Society abandons the poor to misery and degradation, not caring that many have been brought to the depths of poverty by illness or misfortunate, often through the dishonest scheming of those who live by preying upon the less fortunate.” Ellen White in A Call to Stand Apart, p. 94 CSI 133.4
