Counsel #5 — Worthless

Picture: Counsel #5 — Worthless CLi 84.1

Some movies and TV might not seem to promote overt sin, but the content is meaningless and a waste of time. When we watch things that are mindless or morally corrupting, it can desensitize us to sin and cause us to be less focused on God. God has given us a limited amount of time on this earth, and we should use it wisely.[76] When we watch things that are pointless or meaningless, we are wasting that precious time. CLi 84.2

Also, consider your witness. When you watch something stupid and worthless, it can reflect poorly on your priorities and make it difficult for others to see God in you. Sometimes the content may not be as pointless as you first think! Harmful values or beliefs can be promoted in subtle ways through hidden messages. CLi 84.3

“I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless.” Psalms 101:3 ESB CLi 84.4

“The value of time is beyond computation. Christ regarded every moment as precious, and it is thus that we should regard it. Life is too short to be trifled away. We have but a few days of probation in which to prepare for eternity.” Ellen White in To Be Like Jesus, p. 78 CLi 84.5

Reflect: How will you more intentionally choose what you fill your mind with and spend your time doing? CLi 84.6
