In a world filled with processed and packaged foods, artificial sweeteners have become a much-preferred replacement for natural sweeteners. However, despite what the health industry claims, artificial sweeteners are not healthier alternatives to sugar.[162] CWe 127.2

For example, research shows that artificial sweeteners like Splenda, Equal, Aspartame, and Sweet’N Low disrupt metabolism, worsen gut health, and further increase sugar cravings. Additionally, consuming these regularly can also lead to digestive issues, headaches, and a much higher risk of long-term health issues. If you use artificial sweeteners to better the taste of your food or drinks, consider using natural sugars instead.[163] The sugars found in fruits, dates, monk fruit, honey, or pure maple syrup contain antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins that nourish the body. Not only can you still enjoy a bit of sweetness with natural sugars, but you can also have comfort knowing you’re not putting your health at risk. By choosing natural sugars and avoiding artificial substitutes, you can have confidence in making healthier choices that better align with God’s stewardship principles. CWe 127.3
