Counsel #23 — Home Repair

Picture: Counsel #23 — Home Repair CWe 252.1

Proverbs 24:3, 4 reminds us, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established.” Wisely caring for our homes through regular maintenance is essential to preventing small issues from becoming larger problems. CWe 252.2

Just as an uncared-for broken bone will cause innumerable problems, pain and suffering, a home in need of repairs will remain a hazardous environment to live in. Faulty wiring, broken appliances, and leaky roofs should never be ignored. These issues can lead to fires, water damage, and other problems that necessitate timely repairs. Taking care of your home when things break down reflects an appreciation for the blessing that God has provided to you. If you don’t have the knowledge to fix issues on your own, call a professional to handle them for you. Beyond safety, a home kept in good shape will remain comfortable and structurally sound.[286] CWe 252.3

“Let every priest receive the money from one of the treasurers, then use it to repair whatever damage is found in the temple.” 2 Kings 12:5 NIV CWe 252.4

“It is impossible for a slack, disorderly person to make a good Christian. Their lives, in temporal and religious things, are just as disorderly as their dress, houses, persons, and premises.” Ellen White in Our High Calling, p. 230 CWe 252.5

Reflect: When something breaks at home, how long does it take you to repair it? CWe 252.6
