Counsel #14 — Healing with Hope

Picture: Counsel #14 — Healing with Hope CR 112.1

Healing after a breakup is a process that requires spiritual strength, understanding, and a godly perspective. The first step to healing is to allow yourself time to grieve and process your emotions. It’s okay to feel sad and cry but avoid letting guilt or anger take root in your heart, mind, and spirit. CR 112.2

As you heal, surround yourself with supportive friends and family who can provide encouragement, and stop all contact with your ex to heal. The goal is to focus on rediscovering your identity outside of a relationship. From a godly perspective, singleness is not a setback but a season of growth and preparation, so embrace the single state to deepen your relationship with God. Ask Him to reveal His purpose for your life while reflecting on what you learned from the relationship and praying for clarity regarding your next relationship in the future. In addition to leaning on God, some practical steps for healing include journaling your thoughts, engaging in activities you enjoy, and staying active in your faith community. Remember, your worth is found in God’s unconditional love, not in a relationship.8 CR 112.3

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalms 147:3 NIV CR 112.4

“The love which Christ diffuses through the whole being is a vitalizing power. Every vital part—the brain, the heart, the nerves—it touches with healing.” Ellen White in Radiant Religion, p. 115 CR 112.5

Reflect: If a relationship has ended in your life, what was your healing process like? CR 112.6
