Counsel #25 — Communal Worship

Picture: Counsel #25 — Communal Worship CR 56.1

Worship isn’t just something we do alone in our rooms or through a TV screen - it’s also something God designed for community. You might feel closer to God when you’re hiking a quiet trail or relaxing at home, especially if you’re more introverted or adventurous. But even then, God still calls His people to come together and worship. Why? Because He knows we need each other. CR 56.2

For example, the Sabbath principle isn’t only about rest. While time alone with God is important, gathering with others to worship brings a different kind of strength. When you sing, pray, and open the Word with your church family, you’re reminded that your journey with God isn’t meant to be always solitary. Worshiping in community also prepares us for action. Even the early church gathered to serve! Being a part of a faith community will help you discover your purpose, grow your gifts, and support others. Even when it feels easier to stay home, choose community. God will meet you there and use you to bless others in the process.[56] CR 56.3

“We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.” Hebrews 10:25 GW CR 56.4

“It is through the social relations that Christianity comes in contact with the world.” Ellen White in Radiant Religion , p. 165 CR 56.5
