Позволять детям расти невеждами — это грех
Некоторые родители, не сумевшие дать детям религиозного образования, пренебрегают также и обучением детей в школе. Но ни тем, ни другим не следует пренебрегать. Сознание детей деятельно, и если оно не поглощено физическим трудом или не занято учебой, оно открыто для дурного влияния. Родители согрешат, если их дети вырастут невеждами. Им следует снабжать детей полезными и интересными книгами, учить их трудиться, выделять время для физического труда, а также для чтения и обучения. Родители должны стремиться облагораживать мысли своих детей и развивать их умственные способности. Разум, предоставленный сам себе и лишенный необходимых упражнений, чаще всего формируется низким, похотливым и испорченным. Сатана использует этот удобный случай и заполняет праздные умы своими мерзкими мыслями.292 СдЦ 193.3
Труд матери начинается с младенческого возраста ее ребенка. Ей следует подчинять себе волю и нрав ребенка и учить его послушанию. Когда малыш подрастает, не следует расслабляться. Каждая мать должна находить время убеждать своих детей, исправлять их ошибки и терпеливо направлять их на путь праведный. Родителям-христианам следует твердо знать, что они наставляют и готовят своих сыновей и дочерей быть детьми Божьими. Наставления, полученные в детстве, влияют на весь религиозный опыт человека и формируют его характер. Если воля ребенка не подчинена воле родителей, если он им не послушен, в дальнейшем учить его будет чрезвычайно сложно. Какая жестокая борьба, какие конфликты сопровождают подчинение строптивой воли требованиям Бога! Родители, пренебрегающие этим важным трудом, совершают великую ошибку и грешат против своих несчастных детей и против Бога.293 СдЦ 193.4
Родители, если вы не дадите своим детям правильного воспитания, дать которое поручил вам Бог, то вы ответите перед Ним за последствия. Печальные последствия проявят себя в полной мере. Как чертополох, растущий свободно в поле, приносит обильный урожай себе подобных, так и грехи, являющиеся следствием вашей халатности, погубят всех, оказавшихся в сфере их влияния.294 СдЦ 194.1
Проклятие Божье обязательно постигнет неверных родителей. Они не только сеют тернии, которые будут ранить их самих в этой жизни, но им придется ответить за свою неверность, когда начнется небесный суд. Многие дети восстанут в день суда и осудят родителей за то, что те не сдерживали их дурных порывов, и обвинят их в своей гибели. Ложное сочувствие и слепая любовь заставляют родителей оправдывать проступки детей, не обращать на них внимания и не исправлять их. В результате дети гибнут, и кровь их будет взыскана с неверных родителей.295 СдЦ 194.2
To Allow Children to Grow Up in Ignorance Is a Sin
Some parents have failed to give their children a religious education and have also neglected their school education. Neither should have been neglected. Children's minds will be active, and if not engaged in physical labor, or occupied with study, they will be exposed to evil influences. It is a sin for parents to allow their children to grow up in ignorance. They should supply them with useful and interesting books, and should teach them to work, to have hours for physical labor, and hours to devote to study and reading. Parents should seek to elevate the minds of their children and to improve their mental faculties. The mind left to itself, uncultivated, is generally low, sensual, and corrupt. Satan improves his opportunity and educates idle minds.291 CCh 193.3
The mother's work commences with the infant. She should subdue the will and temper of her child, and bring it into subjection, teach it to obey. As the child grows older, relax not the hand. Every mother should take time to reason with her children, to correct their errors, and patiently teach them the right way. Christian parents should know that they are instructing and fitting their children to become children of God. The entire religious experience of the children is influenced by the instructions given, and the character formed, in childhood. If the will is not then subdued and made to yield to the will of the parents, it will be a difficult task to learn the lesson in after years. What a severe struggle, what a conflict, to yield that will which never was subdued, to the requirements of God! Parents who neglect this important work commit a great error, and sin against their poor children and against God.292 CCh 193.4
Parents, if you fail to give your children the education which God has made it your duty to give them, you must answer to Him for the results. These results will not be confined merely to your children. As the one thistle permitted to grow in the field produces a harvest of its kind, so the sins resulting from your neglect will work to ruin all who come within the sphere of their influence.293 CCh 194.1
The curse of God will surely rest upon unfaithful parents. Not only are they planting thorns which will wound them here, but they must meet their own unfaithfulness when the judgment shall sit. Many children will rise up in judgment and condemn their parents for not restraining them, and charge upon them their destruction. The false sympathy and blind love of parents causes them to excuse the faults of their children and pass them by without correction, and their children are lost in consequence, and the blood of their souls will rest upon the unfaithful parents.294 CCh 194.2
