Isahluko 8—ULuther Umiswa Phambi Kwedale Lephalamende.

Ngesikhali esifanayo bonke abamela iqiniso bahlala behlaselwa kusukela endulo. ULuther wayelomsebenzi omkhulu wokuletha ukukhanya empilweni zabantu abanengi uNkulunkulu ayevumele ukuthi kukhanye kuye; kodwa loba kwakunjalo kazange athole konke ukukhanya okwakuzanikwa umhlaba wonke. Kusukela esikhathini sakhe kusiyafika khathesi, ukukhanya okutsha lokhe kuvela eMbhalweni oNgcwele, njalo lamaqiniso amatsha lokhe esibasobala. {GC 148.4} IEP 148.4

Inkulumo kameli kapapa yatshiya indonsela enkulu kulabo ababelalele. ULuther wayengekho kule indawo, owayelamazwi okuletha iqiniso elivela elizwini likaNkulunkulu ukuthi aphikise intshantshu kapapa. Ngabe amehlo abo bonke ababesemhlanganweni ayevuliwe, babezabona ixuku lengilosi elaliletha ukukhanya engqondweni zomuntu wonke owayekhona, zizama ukususa umnyama lemfundiso yamanga, njalo ezazivula inhliziyo zabo ukuthi bamukele iqiniso. Kwakungamandla kaNkulunkulu weqiniso lokuhlakanipha ayehola wonke umuntu kugoqela abantu ababephikisana lomsebenzi wemvuselelo, ngale indlela kwabangela ukuthi kwendlalelwe umsebenzi owawusuzafezwa. Inhliziyo yakhe yayibambene lekaLuther, njalo wayelesifiso sokumlandela, loba kwakusitsho ukuthi ayentolongweni kumbe ekufeni. Kodwa isicelo sakhe asizange samukelwe. Edolobheni laseErfurt, uLuther wamukelwa ngenhlonipho enkulu. Wagonjolozelwa lixuku labantu ababemjabulele, wadlula emigwaqweni owayeke wayihamba nxa wayesayenza umsebenzi wokucela imali. Wavakatshela indawo ayeke ahlala kuyo esasebenzela ibandla, wakhumbula indlela iqiniso elaseligcwele elizweni laseGermany elalimfinyelele ngokwakuqala. Bamcela ukuthi atshumayele. Lowu kungumsebenzi wosindiso...UJesu wanqoba! Lezi zindaba ezimnandi, njalo sisindiswa ngemisebenzi yakhe, njalo hatshi ngemisebenzi yethu...INkosi yethu uJesu Krestu yathi, “Ukuthula makube kini: khangelani izandla zami;’ okutsho ukuthi, Khangelani bantu! Waqhubeka ebabonisa ukuthi ukukholwa kweqiniso kuzabonakala kuphela ngokuphila impilo engcwele. “Njengoba uNkulunkulu esesihlengile, lathi asiboniseni imsebenzi yethu, siyenze ukuthi yamukeleke phambi kwakhe. Unothile na? Yenza ukuthi imisebenzi yakho yamukeleke phambi kwabaswelayo. Uyaswela na? Yenza ukuthi imisebenzi yakho yamukeleke phambi kwabanothileyo. Nxa imisebenzi oyenzayo ijabulisa wena kuphela, umsebenzi ozitshela ukuthi uwenzela uNkulunkulu ungamanga.” (Ibid, b.7, ch.7). {GC 152.3} IEP 152.3

Abantu balalela ngokukhulu ukumangala. Isinkwa sokuphila sahletshulwa phambi kwemphefumulo leyi eyayilambele iqiniso. UKrestu waphakanyiswa phambi kwabo, wabonakala ephezulu okwedlula opapa, labaphathi bebandla, lababusi kanye lamakhosi omhlaba. ULuther kazange atsholutho ngengozi eyayiphambi kwakhe. Kazange afune ukuthi abangele ukuthi abantu bazihluphe ngaye kumbe babelozwelo. Ngokubeka kwakhe amehlo akhe kuKrestu wayesekhohlwe bonke ubumina. Nxa uMvuseleli wayeqhubeka ngohambo lwakhe, yonke indawo abantu babemhlangabeza befuna ukumbona. Umbiko wokuza kwakhe wabangela ukuthi kungabi lokuhlaliseka edolobheni laseWorms. Abangane bakhe bakhathazeka ngokuphepha kwakhe, izitha zakhe zona zazisesaba ukuthi sekungenzeka amaqhinga abo angaphumeleli. Imizamo eminengi yenziwa ukuthi bamvikele ukuthi angene edolobheni leli. Ekufikeni kwakhe edolobheni laseWorms, ixuku labantu elikhulu lamhlangabeza emasangweni bezomamukela. Kwakungakaze kube labantu abanengi ngale indlela ababezohlangabeza umuntu ngitsho lanxa kwakufika umongameli ngokwakhe. Injabulo yabantu yayinkulu kakhulu, njalo kwezwakala ilizwi elalixwayisa uLuther ngengozi eyayizamehlela. “ UNkulunkulu uzabalihawu lami,” waphendula nxa wayesehla enqoleni ayezengayo. {GC 153.3} IEP 153.3

Abameli bakapapa babengakukholwanga ukuthi uLuther wayengafaka impilo yakhe engozini ngokuza edolobheni laseWorms, ngakhoke ukufika kwakhe kwenza ukuthi bathukuthele kakhulu. Umongameli wabiza amalunga ephalamende yakhe ukuthi bahlele indlela udaba lolu olwaluzathethwa ngayo. Omunye wababhishopi waphendula wathi: “Kudala sikhuluma ngodaba lolu. Sicela ukuthi usebenzise amandla akho, ubulale lumuntu kanye. USigismund kabangelanga ukuthi uHuss atshiswe na? Asikhangelelwanga njalo asibotshwanga ukuthi sinike umhlamuki isiqiniseko sokuphepha.” “Hatshi,” waphendula umongameli, “kumele sigcine isithembiso sethu.”- (Ibid, b.7, ch.8). Ekucineni kwavunyelwana ukuthi uMvuseleli kwakumele aphiwe ithuba lokuzimela. {GC 153.4} IEP 153.4

Bonke abantu babethakazelela ukubona indoda leyi, njalo ixuku labantu labuthana endaweni ayehlala kuyo. ULuther wayengakaphumuli ngokugcweleyo ngenxa yohambo lwabo olwaluthethe amaviki amabili, njalo umzimba wakhe wawungakalulami ngemva kokugula kwakhe; kwakumele alungiselele izehlakalo ezaziphambi kwakhe, njalo wayedinga ukuthula lokuphumula. Kodwa abantu abanengi babefisa ukumbona, okwabangela ukuthi angatholi ukuphumula ngoba wayehlala ehanqwe ngabantu abaphezulu, labancane, njalo labaphathi bebandla. Phakathi kwabo laba kwakulamakhosi ayelwisane lomongameli ukuthi ayenze imizamo yokususa ukuncindezela okwakulethwe libandla leRoma ebantwini, uLuther wathi, “bonke babekhululwe livangeli lami.”- (Martyn, page 393). Izitha kanye labangane, beza befuna ukuzobona lindoda eyayime ngesibindi eqinisweni, kodwa wabamukela bonke ngesineke esikhulu, wabaphendula bonke ngesibindi langenhlonipho. Isimo sakhe sasiqinile njalo silesibindi. Ubuso bakhe obabubunile, bucakile ngenxa yobunzima ayedlule kibo, babugcwele ukulunga njalo lentokozo. Ukucoleka njalo lokuzimisela okwakuphuma emazwini akhe, kwamnika amandla ayebangela ukuthi lezitha zakhe zehluleke ukuwamela. Abangane lezitha zakhe bagcwala ukumangala kakhulu. Abanye babelesiqiniseko sokuthi isandla esingcwele sasihamba laye; abanye babesitsho amazwi akhulunywa ngabafarisi ngoJesu awokuthi: “Ulamadimoni.” {GC 154.1} IEP 154.1

Ngosuku olwalandelayo uLuther wabizwa ukuthi azokuma phambi kwedale lephalamende. Kwakhethwa omunye webutho ukuthi amlethe endlini enkulu lapho ayezakhuluma khona; lobakwakunjalo wafika nzima endaweni leyi. Imigwaqo yonke yayigcwele abantu ababefuna ukubona indoda leyi eyayikhethe ukuphikisana lemfundiso kanye lamandla kapapa. {GC 154.2} IEP 154.2

Nxa wayesezangena phambi kwabahluleli, omunye owayengumkhulu webutho ngaphambilini wathi kuye ngelizwi lokulunga: “Sisebenzi sebandla esiyinsweli, manje suzayamela udaba olumqoka olwedlula lokhu engakumelayo mina kumbe okwedlula wonke amelwa yizikhulu zebutho phakathi kwezimpi ezinkulu lapho okwachitheka khona igazi kakhulu. Kodwa nxa umsebenzi wakho ulungile, njalo lawe ukholelwa kuwo, qhubekela phambili ngegama likaNkulunkulu, njalo ungesabi lutho. UNkulunkulu kasoze akulahle.” — (D’Aubigne, b.7, ch.8). {GC 154.3} IEP 154.3

ULuther wema phambi kwephalamende. Umongameli wayehleli esihlalweni sobukhosi. Wayegonjolozelwe yizikhulu zombuso wonke. Kwakungazake kubelomuntu owayebizwe ukuthi ame phambi komhlangano ophezulu kangaka njengalowu uLuther owayezakuma phambi kwawo ezomela inkolo yakhe. “Ukuma kwakhe lokhu kuphela kwakuyisibonakaliso sokunqoba kwakhe umbuso kapapa. Upapa wayembeke icala, njalo manje wayesemi phambi komthethwandaba, okwakubonisa ngalesi isehlakalo ukuthi babezifake phezu kapapa. Upapa wayemnike isigwebo sokuthi axotshwe, asuswe ebantwini, kodwa manje wayebizwe ngelizwi lenhlonipho, njalo wemukelwa phambi kwephalamende eyayihlonitshwa emhlabeni wonke. Upapa wayemgwebele ukuthi athule inaphakade, kodwa manje wayeselungiselela ukukhuluma phambi kwenkulungwane zabantu ababezimisele ukulalela ngokuqedisisa ababevela endaweni ezinengi. Kwasekusungulwe umvukela omkhulu owawubangelwe yimfundiso kaLuther. Umbuso weRoma wawusuqala ukuwa, njalo kwakungenxa yelizwi lesisebenzi sebandla esingasomuntu walutho esasibangela ukuyangiswa kwawo.” — (Ibid, b.7, ch.8). {GC 155.1} IEP 155.1

Phambili komhlangano lowu omkhulu, uMvuseleli owayezelwe emulini yabayanga, wabonakala sengathi wayelokumangala njalo lokuyangeka. Inengi lababusi, nxa babenanzelela isimo sakhe, bamlanda bamnyenyezela besithi: “Ungesabi labo ababulala umzimba, kodwa abangelamandla wokubulala umphefumulo.” Omunye wathi: “Nxa bezaliletha phambi kwababusi lamakhosi ngenxa yegama lami, lizakunikwa nguMoya kaBaba wenu, amazwi wokukhuluma.” Ngale indlela amazwi kaKrestu alethwa ngamadoda aphakemeyo, ukuba azoqinisa inceku kaNkulunkulu ngehola layo lobunzima. {GC 155.2} IEP 155.2

ULuther wathunganyelwa ukuba ayekuma phambi kwesihlalo sikamongameli. Kwabalokuthula kubo bonke ababebuthene. Kwasekusukuma omunye wabahluleli wakhomba imibhalo kaLuther eyayibuthiwe, wambuza ukuthi wayevuma ukuthi imibhalo leyi yayingeyakhe njalo lokuthi wayefuna ukuphika konke okwakubhalwe kuyo. Ngemva kokubalwa kwezihloko zengwalo lezi, uLuther waphendula wathi ngokuphathelene lombuzo wakuqala imbhalo leyi yayingeyakhe. “Ngokuphathelane lombuzo wesibili,” waphendula, “ngiyananzelela ukuthi lowu ngumbuzo ophathelane lokukholwa njalo lokusindiswa kwemphefumulo, njalo ugoqela ilizwi likaNkulunkulu, eliligugu eledlula wonke amagugu ezulwini lasemhlabeni, ngingenza iphutha nxa ngingaphendula ngingacabangisisanga. Kungenzeka ngiphendule kancane okwedlula okudingekayo, kumbe kakhulu okwedlula okudingwa liqiniso, njalo ngale indlela ngone phambi kwamazwi kaKrestu athi: ‘Kodwa lowo ozangiphika phambi kwabantu, lami ngizakumphika phambi kaBaba osezulwini.” (Mathewu 10:33). Ngalesi isizatho ngicela umongameli ohloniphekayo, ngokuzehlisa, ukuthi anginike isikhathi, ukwenzela ukuthi ngiphendule ngendlela engeke iphikise ilizwi likaNkulunkulu.”- (D’Aibigne, b. 7, ch.8). {GC 155.3} IEP 155.3

Ngokwenza isicelo lesi uLuther wathatha inyathelo lokuhlakanipha. Ukukhuluma kwakhe kwenza ukuthi abahluleli bakholwe ukuthi wayengafuqwa yimizwa. Ukuhlaliseka lokuziqoqa okungaka, kwakungakhangelelwanga emuntwini owayeziveze njengomuntu olesibindi njalo ongaguqukiyo, kwangezelela amandla akhe, kwabangela ukuthi eyenelise ukuziphendulela ngokunanzelela, lokuhlakanipha njalo langenhlonipho eyamangalisa njalo yephula inhliziyo zalabo ababelwisana laye ngoba bona babeziphakamisa. {GC 156.1} IEP 156.1

Ngelanga elalandelayo, uLuther wayezakuma ukuthi anike impendulo yakhe yokucina. Okwesikhatshana inhliziyo yakhe yatshona nxa wayecabanga izitha ezazihlangene ukuthi zilwisane leqiniso. Ukholo lwakhe lwehla, wafikelwa yikwesaba okukhulu. Ingozi zagcwala phambi kwakhe; izitha zakhe zazibonakala sengathi zasezizanqoba, njalo lamandla obunyama ayengathi sezanqoba. Amayezi ayebuthana phezu kwakhe, abonakala sengathi ayemhlukanisa loNkulunkulu. Wafisa isiqiniseko sokuthi uSomandla wayelaye. Ngenhliziyo edabukileyo waziphosela phansi, wathululela, ukukhala kwakhe okwakungeke kuzwisiswe ngumuntu ngaphandle kukaNkulunkulu ngokwakhe. {GC 156.2} IEP 156.2

“Wena Nkulunkulu olamandla njalo ophakade,” wazincengela, “mubi kangakanani umhlaba lowu! Bheka uvula umlomo wawo ukuthi ungiginye, njalo ngilokukholwa okuncane kangaka kuwe...Nxa kusitsho ukuthi kumele ngibeke ithemba lami emandleni womhlaba, konke sekuphelile...Ihola lami lokucina selifikile, isigwebo sami sesibekiwe...Nkosi yami, ngicela ungisize njengoba ngilwisana lokuhlakanipha konke okwasemhlabeni. Yenza lokhu, ...Wena kuphela, ...ngoba lowu asiwo msebenzi wami, kodwa ngowakho. Angilakho okokwenza lapha, angilakho engingakwenza ukuthi ngilwisane labo laba abaphakemeyo emhlabeni...Kodwa umsebenzi lowu ngowakho, ... njalo kungumsebenzi oqotho njalo onaphakade. Nkosi yami, ngisize! Wena Nkulunkulu othembekileyo njalo ongaguqukiyo, angibeki ithemba lami emuntwini...Konke okuphuma emuntwini akulakusasa; konke okuphuma emuntwini akuphumeleli...Wena nguwe ongikhethele umsebenzi lowu...Mana eceleni kwami, ngenxa yegama likaJesu Krestu othandekayo, ongumvikeli wami, lehawu lami, njalo lomphotshongo wami oqinileyo.” (Ibid, b.7, ch.8). {GC 156.3} IEP 156.3

Isandla sezulu esilenhlakanipho eqotho sasivumele ukuthi uLuther ananzelele ingozi eyayiphambi kwakhe, ukwenzela ukuthi angathembeli emandleni akhe, azifake engozini ngokuzithemba. Kodwa kwakungasokwesaba kwenyama, lokwesaba ubuhlungu lokufa, okwakubonakala sengathi kuyeza, okwabangela ukuthi abelokuthuthumela lokwesaba. Wayesefikile ekulweni, njalo wananzelela ukuthi wayengalawo amandla wokumelana lakho. Ngenxa yobuthakathaka bakhe, umsebenzi weqiniso kwakungenzeka unqotshwe. Walwisana loNkulunkulu hatshi ngokuthi wayefuna ukuthi avikelwe yena kodwa ngenxa yokuthi wayefuna ivangeli linqobe. NjengoJakobe, ngobusuku bakhe bokulwiswa, kwaba yibuhlungu lokulwiswa komphefumulo wakhe. Njengo Israyeli wanqoba ngoba eloNkulunkulu. Ngesikhathi lapho owayengela mandla khona, ukholo lwakhe lwanamathela kuKrestu, uMsindisi omkhulu. Waqiniswa yisiqiniseko sokuthi wayengasoke ame phambi kwephalamende eyedwa. Ukuthula kwabuyela emoyeni wakhe, njalo wathokozelela ukuthi wayenikwe ithuba lokuphakamisa ilizwi likaNkulunkulu phambi kwababusi bamazwe wonke. {GC 157.1} IEP 157.1

Wabeka inqondo yakhe kuNkulunkulu walungiselela impi eyayiphambi kwakhe. Wacabanga ngecebo ayezaphendula ngalo, wafunda imigca eyayisembhalweni yakhe, njalo wacephuna eBhayibhilini ubufakazi bamazwi ayewabhalile. Wasebeka isandla sakhe sokungxele phezu koMbhalo oNgwele owawuvuliwe phambi kwakhe, waphakamisa isandla sakhe sokudla njalo wafunga ukuthi “wayezahlala ezimisele evangelini, njalo wayezakhululeka ekumeleni ukholo lwakhe, loba kwakumele aqinise ukufakaza ayekwenzile ngegazi lakhe.”- (Ibid, b.7, ch.8). {GC 157.2} IEP 157.2

Nxa wayesebiselwa futhi phambi kwephalamende, ubuso bakhe abuzange bubonise ukwesaba kumbe ukuyangeka. Wayelokuthula njalo lokuhlaliseka, kodwa wayelokhe elesibindi njalo elungile, wama phambi kukaNkulunkulu njengomfakazi wakhe phambi kwababusi lamakhosi omhlaba. Umphathi wephalamende wasembuza ngokwesibili ukuthi wayethanda na, ukuphika inkolo yakhe. ULuther wanika impendulo yakhe ngelizwi lokuzithoba lokuzehlisa, elalingela ntukuthelo kumbe ukulwa. Isimo sakhe sasihlukile njalo silenhlonipho; kodwa loba kwakunjalo wabonisa intokozo eyamangalisa wonke umuntu. {GC 158.1} IEP 158.1

“Wena mongameli ohloniphekayo, lamakhosi aphakemeyo, lamakhosana alomusa”, watsho uLuther, “Ngimiphambi kwenu lamhlanje, ngenxa yokulandela ilizwi engiliphiweyo izolo, njalo ngomusa kaNkulunkulu ngiyacela ukuthi ngokuhlonipheka kwenu lilalele ngomusa amazwi ami wokumela lokuvikela umsebenzi lowu engikholelwa lokuthi ulungile njalo uliqiniso. Nxa kungenzeka, ngokungaqedisisi, ngephule imithetho yemthethwandaba, ngiyacela ukuthi lingithethelele, ngoba angikhuliswanga ezindlini zesikhosini, kodwa emaphandleni.” (Ibid, b.7, ch.8). {GC 158.2} IEP 158.2

Wathi eqhubeka ephendula umbuzo, waveza ukuthi imbhalo yakhe yayingafanani. Kweminye wayebhale ngobudlelwano phakathi kokukholwa lemisebenzi emihle, njalo lezitha zakhe zazitshilo ukuthi leyi imibhalo yayilungile. Ukuphika leyi imibhalo kwakusitsho ukuphika imfundiso eyayikholwa yinhlangothi zombili. Eyinye imibhalo yesibili yayimumethe amazwi ayechaza imisebenzi yabopapa eyokuncindezela abantu. Ukuphika amazwi lawa kwakuzakutsho ukuthi wayeqinisa amandla aseRoma, njalo lokuvula imnyango eminengi ukuthi baqhubeke ngobubi babo. Kweyinye imibhalo yesithathu wayeveze bonke abantu ababevikele imisebenzi yebandla yokuncindezela. Nxa wayekhuluma ngalaba bantu wavuma laye ukuthi wayesebenzise amazwi alukhuni okwedlula lokhu okwakudingeka. Kazange ayenze imizamo yokuthi wayengenzanga amaphutha, kodwa wayengeke ayiphike laleyi imbhalo, ngoba inyathelo elinjalo lalizayenza ukuthi izitha zeqiniso zithole amandla, njalo zibelegunya lokuhlukumeza abantu bakaNkulunkulu. {GC 158.3} IEP 158.3

“Loba kunjalo kodwa ngingumuntukazana, njalo angisuye uNkulunkulu,” waqhubeka; “Ngakhoke ngizazimela ngendlela efanayo uJesu azimela ngayo: ‘Nxa ngikhulume okubi, fakazani ububi engibukhulumileyo.’ ... Ngomusa kaNkulunkulu, ngiyakucela mongameli ophakemeyo, lani makhosi ahloniphekayo, laye wonke umuntu okule indlu, ukuthi lingibonise ngokusebenzisa imbhalo yabaprofethi labafundi lapho engilahleke khona. Angisoke ngichithe isikhathi nxa sengikuzwisisile lokhu, ngizavuma amaphutha ami, njalo ngizaba ngowokuqala ukubutha imbhalo yami ngiyiphosele emlilweni. {GC 159.1} IEP 159.1

“Lokhu engiqeda ukukutsho kuchaza sobala, ngiyathemba, ukuthi ngicubungulile ngalinganisa ingozi engizifaka kuyo; kodwa angilakho ukudangala, ngiyathokoza ukubona ukuthi ivangeli manje, njengasendulo seliyimbangela yenhlupho lempikiswano. Lesi kuyisimo, njalo kungumphumela, welizwi likaNkulunkulu. ‘Angizanga ukuzoletha ukuthula emhlabeni, kodwa inkemba,’ watsho uJesu. UNkulunkulu uyisimanga njalo ulamandla ezixwayisweni zakhe; nanzelelani ngoba sekungenzeka, ngemizamo yokuphikisa lokhu elicabanga ukuthi yimfundiso yamanga, lilwisane lelizwi likaNkulunkulu, njalo lizibuthele ingozi enkulu, yokulahlwa kule impilo lakwezayo...Ngingacaphula imigca eminengi elizwini likaNkulunkulu. Ngingakhuluma ngaboFaro, lamakhosi aseBhabhiloni, njalo labanye abakoIsrayeli, abasebenzisa imisebenzi yabo becabanga ukuthi yayilungile njalo yayizakhulisa amandla abo kodwa yabangela ukuthi balahlekelwe yimbuso yabo. ‘UNkulunkulu uyaquphula izintaba, njalo azikwazi lokhu.’”- (Ibid, b.7, ch.8). {GC 159.2} IEP 159.2

ULuther wayekhulume ngolimi lwaseGerman basebemcela ukuthi aphinde amazwi akhe ngolimi lwesiLatin. Loba nje wayesediniwe kodwa wavuma, waphinda amazwi akhe ngokucaca okufananayo langamandla njengasekuqaleni. Amandla kaNkulunkulu yiwo ayemhola edabeni lolu. Ingqondo zamakhosi amanengi ezazigcwele ubumnyama ngenxa yemfundiso yamanga lamasiko ababehluleke ukuqedisisa amazwi kaLuther ngokokuqala; benelisa ukuqedisisa nxa uLuther wayesephinda. {GC 159.3} IEP 159.3

Bonke labo abakhetha ukuvala amehlo abo ukuba babone ukukhanya, njalo ababezimisele ukuthi bengamukeli iqiniso, bagcwala inzondo nxa babesizwa amandla amazwi kaLuther. Nxa wayeseqedile ukukhuluma, isikhulumi sasephalamende satsho amazwi alandelayo ngentukuthelo: “Awukaphenduli umbuzo owubuziweyo...kudingeka ukuthi unike impendulo ecacileyo...Uzaphika kumbe awusoke uphike?” {GC 160.1} IEP 160.1

UMvuseleli waphendula: “Njengoba ngokuhlonipheka kwakho njalo lokuphakama kwakho udinga impendulo ecacileyo, ngizakunika yona, njalo yileyi: Angisoke ngibeke ukholo lwami kupapa kumbe ephalamende, ngoba kusobala njengelanga ukuthi bahleli besenza amaphutha njalo balokuphikisana. Ngaphandle kuphela nxa ngiboniswa eBhayibhilini kumbe ngamazwi acacileyo, ngaphandle nxa ngiboniswa ngemibhalo engiyifundileyo, njalo nxa besenza imizamo yokuthi umzwangedwa wami uthintwe ngokubhalwe elizwini likaNkulunkulu, Angeke njalo angisoke ngiphike, ngoba kuyingozi ukuthi umKrestu akhulume okuphikisana lomzwangedwa wakhe. Ngale indlela yama lindoda eqotho phezu kwensika efaneleyo yelizwi likaNkulunkulu. Ukukhanya kwezulu kwakhazimulisa ubuso bakhe. Ubukhulu bakhe njalo lokulunga kwesimo sakhe, ukuthula kwakhe lenjabulo yenhliziyo yakhe, kwabonakala kibo bonke nxa wayefakaza ephikisa amandla emfundiso yamanga njalo nxa wayefakazela amandla okukholwa okulamandla wokunqoba umhlaba. {GC 160.3} IEP 160.3

Iphalamende lonke latsha amazwi okwesikhatshana ngokumangala. Ekuqaleni uLuther wayephendule ngelizwi eliphansi, elilenhlonipho njalo elalingathi lilokuzithoba kakhulu. Abameli bakapapa babekuthethe lokhu njengobufakazi bokuthi isibindi sakhe sasesiqala ukuphela. Benza isicelo sokuthi baqhubeke ngelanga elilandelayo bezama ukuthi benze ukuthi aphike imfundiso yakhe. UCharles ngokwakhe, nxa wayekhangele isimo sikaLuther, lezembatho zakhe ezazidabukile, lendlela ayekhuluma ngayo, wayephumisele amazwi athi: “Lumuntu ngeke enelise ukuthi angenze umhlamuki lami.” Isibindi ayesesibonisa manje, lamandla amazwi akhe njalo lokucaca kwemicabango yakhe, kwenza ukuthi bonke abantu babelokumangala. Umongameli wezwa efuqwa ukuthi ancome wathi: “Indoda leyi ikhuluma ngenhliziyo engelakwesaba njalo ngesibindi esinganyikinyekiyo.” Ababusi abanengi ababevela elizweni laseGermany bakhangela ngokuziqhenya nxa babekhangela lowu owayemele isizwe sakibo. {GC 160.4} IEP 160.4

UKrestu wayekhulume ngobufakazi bukaLuther ngamandla njalo langendonsela eyabangela ukuthi okwesikhatshana abangane lezitha bafikelwe yikumangala. UMoya kaNkulunkulu wawukhona kule indawo uthinta inhliziyo zamakhosi lababusi ababekhona kulo umhlangano omkhulu. Ababusi abanengi bavuma ukuthi umsebenzi kaLuther wawulungile. Abanengi babephendulwe liqiniso, kodwa inselela yakhona ayizange ihlale isikhathi eside. Omunye wababusi okwakuthiwa nguFrederick wayelinde ngenhliziyo eyayithakazelela ukuza kukaLuther ephalamende, njalo wayelalele ngentokozo amazwi kaLuther. Ngenjabulo langokuziqhenya wayebengumfakazi wesibindi ayesibonisile, lokuma enganyikinyeki, lendlela ayeziphathe ngayo, njalo laye wazimisela ukumela iqiniso ngesibindi. Njengoba uLuther wayeyalile ukuphika ukholo lwakhe, kwakumele kuthathwe amanyathelo alukhuni phezu kwakhe lemfundiso yakhe. “Indoda eyodwa, edukiswe yikungaqedisisi kwayo, isihlamukele ukholo lwesiKretsu. Ukuqeda ububi lobu ngizimisele, ukunikela imibuso yami, lenotho yami, labangane bami, lomzimba wami, legazi lami, lomphefumulo wami, kanye lempilo yami. Ngesikhatshana ngizaxotsha uLuther, ngimvimbele ukuthi enze umvukela ebantwini, ngizaqhubeka njalo ngimjezise yena labalandeli bakhe njengabahlamuki abakhulu, ngibaxotshe elizweni, ngibathuke, njalo ngisebenzise yonke imizamo yokubabhubhisa. Ngicela ukuthi wonke amakhosi aziphathe njengamaKrestu aqotho.” — (Ibid, b.7, ch.9). Nxa iNkosi ibathumela ukukhanya okungatholwanga ngabokhokho babo, bayala ukukwamukela, ngoba, ngenxa yokuthi abananzeleli ukuthi kwakunganikwanga okhokho babo, yikho babengeke bakwamukele. UNkulunkulu kasoke asitshayele ihlombe ngoba siyalile ukwamukela amaqiniso akhe atholakala elizwini lakhe ngoba sikhethe ukuhamba emanyathelweni abokhokho bethu. Umsebenzi wethu umkhulu okwedlula owabokhokho bethu. Silomlandu wokwamukela ukukhanya abakutholayo, lalokhu okudluliswe phakathi kwezizukulwane, njalo silomlandu phambi kukaNkulunkulu ngenxa yokukhanya okwengeziweyo okuvezwe phambi kwethu okuvela elizwini lakhe. {GC 164.1} IEP 164.1

UJesu nxa wayekhuluma lamaJuda ayengamkholwa wathi: “Uba bengingafikanga, ngakhuluma labo, ngabe kabalasono; kodwa khathesi kabalazaba ngesono sabo.” (Johane 15:22). Amandla ezulu afanayo ayesekhulume ngoLuther ekhuluma lomongameli lababusi baseGermany. Njalo nxa ukukhanya kwakukhanyiswa kuphuma elizwini likaNkulunkulu, uMoya wakhe wancenga ngokokucina kwabanengi ababebuthene emhlanganweni lowu. Amahungahunga ecebo lokulimaza uLuther afinyelela abantu edolobheni njalo lokhu kwabangela ukutshiseka okukhulu edolobheni lonke. UMvuseleli wayeseyakhe ubungane labantu abanengi, ababelwazi uchuku lweRoma, ngakho bazimisela ukuthi uLuther anganikelwa ezandleni zebandla. Izikhulu ezinengi zafunga ukuthi zazizamvikela. Emasangweni ezindlu lasendaweni ezivulekileyo, kwakufakwe imibhalo eyayiphikisana loLuther njalo eminye yayivumelana lemfundiso yakhe. Komunye umbhalo kwakulotshwe amazwi athi: “Maye kuwe wena lizwe, onkosi yakho ingumntwana.” (Mtshumayeli 10:16). UFredrick waseSaxony wahlala ngokuzithoba, wafihla imizwa yakhe ngokunanzelela, engabonisi ukuthi yena wayecabangani ngoLuther, kodwa ngesikhathi esifanayo wamvikela ngelihlo lengqungqulu, ekhangele amanyathelo akhe wonke njalo lawezitha zakhe. Kodwa banengi abangazange bafihle indlela ababeyamukele ngayo imfundiso kaLuther. Ababusi lamakhosi bamtshela ukuthi nxa wayeqhubeka esenza isinqumo esasiphambene lemfundiso yebandla wayezaxotshwa elizweni asale engasela muntu omvikelayo. Nxa wayephendula isicelo lesi uLuther wathi: “Ivangeli likaKrestu ngeke litshunyayelwe kusale kungela ophikisayo...Kunganike kumele ukwesaba ingozi kungihlukanise leNkosi yami, njalo lelizwi elingcwele eliyilo iqiniso kuphela? Hatshi; Kungangcono ngidele umzimba wami, legazi lami, njalo lempilo yami.”- (D’Aubigne, b.7, ch.10). {GC 165.2} IEP 165.2

Kwesinye isicelo waphendula wathi: “Ngizimisele ukulahla isithembiso sami sokuphepha. Ngibeka ubomi lempilo yami ezandleni zikamongameli, kodwa ilizwi likaNkulunkulu — ngeke!”- (Ibid, b.7, ch.10). Wakubeka sobala ukuthi wayezimisele ukulandela isinqumo somhlangano lowu, kodwa kuphela nxa babesebenzisa iBhayibhili njengensika yesinqumo sabo. “Lapho okugoqela ilizwi likaNkulunkulu njalo lokholo, wonke umKrestu ungumahluleli olungileyo njengo papa, lobanje yena evumelana lezigidi zabaphathi.” — (Martyn, vol. 1, p. 410). Ngabe uLuther wayevume ukuphika loba umugca owodwa, uSathane lengilosi zakhe babezanqoba. Kodwa ukunganyikinyeki kwakhe kwaba yindlela yokukhulula ibandla, njalo kwabayikusungulwa kwebanga elitsha. Indonsela yendoda leyi eyodwa, eyazimisela ukuzicabangela lokuma yodwa endabeni zokukholwa, yayizathinta ibandla lomhlaba wonke, hatshi kuphela ngesikhathi ayephila kuso, kodwa okweminyaka eminengi eyayizalandela. Isibindi lokuzimisela kwakhe, kwakuzaqinisa bonke, kuzekuyefika ekupheleni komhlaba, ababezadlula esimeni esifana lesakhe. Ngemva kwesikhatshana uLuther wathola umlayezo wokuthi kwakumele abuyele ekhaya, njalo wayesazi ukuthi masinyane kwakuzalandela omunye owesigwebo sakhe. Amayezi engozi ayesendleleni yakhe, kodwa nxa wayesuka edolobheni leWorms, inhliziyo yakhe yayigcwele intokozo lokudumisa. “USathane ngokwakhe, ubevikela isihlalo sikapapa; kodwa uKrestu uvule isikhala esikhulu ethangweni lolu, njalo uSathane uphoqelwe ukuthi avume ukuthi uNkulunkulu mkhulu okwedlula yena.” — (D’Aubigne, b. 7, ch. 11). {GC 166.4} IEP 166.4

Ngemva kokusuka kwakhe, wayelokhu ezimisele ukubonisa ukuthi ukubambelela kwakhe eqinisweni kwakungamelanga kubonakale sengathi yikuhlamuka, uLuther wabhalela umongameli incwadi. “UNkulunkulu, onguye ohlola inhliziyo zonke, ungumfakazi wami, ngokuthi ngizimisele ukuhlonipha isihlalo sakho, ekuphakanyisweni lasekuyehlisweni, empilweni lasekufeni, njalo kungekho okunye ngaphandle kwelizwi likaNkulunkulu, wonke umuntu okumele aphile ngalo. Kuzozonke izinto zempilo yami yomhlaba, ukulunga kwami akusoke kunyikinyeke, ngoba lapha ukulahlekelwa kumbe ukunqoba akulandaba losindiso. Kodwa nxa kugoqela impilo enaphakade, uNkulunkulu kathandi ukuthi umuntu azehlise phambi komunye umuntu amkhonze. Ngoba ukuzehlisa okunjalo endabeni zokukholwa kulingana lokukhonza, njalo okumele kunikwe uNkulunkulu kuphela.” — (Ibid, b.7, ch. 11). {GC 167.1} IEP 167.1

Endleleni yakhe yokuya ekhaya esuka edolobheni laseWorms, ukwamukelwa kwakhe kwasekudlula nxa wayesiya khona. Abantu abaphakemeyo bamukela indoda leyi eyayisigwetshelwe ukuxotshwa esizweni, njalo abantu bonke bahlonipha indoda eyayilahlwe ngumongameli. Bamcela ukuthi atshumayele, njalo loba wayetshelwe ukuthi engakwenzi lokhu wasukuma wamaphambi kwabo. “Angizange ngifunge ukuthi ngizafihla ilizwi likaNkulunkulu,” wakhuluma, “njalo angisoke.” —Martyn, vol. 1, p. 420). {GC 167.2} IEP 167.2

UNkulunkulu wayevule indlela yokuphunyuka phambi kwenceku yakhe. Ilihlo elingalaliyo lalilandela indlela kaLuther, njalo inhliziyo eqotho yayihlele ukuphepha kwakhe. Kwakusobala ukuthi ibandla leRoma lalingeke lisuthiseke ngomunye umphumela ngaphandle kokufa kwakhe; kuphela ngokufihlwa wayengaphepha emazinyweni esilo lesi. UNkulunkulu wabeka icebo kumbusi uFredrick waseSaxony, elokuthi impilo kaLuther iphephiswe. Ngokusebenzisana labangane abaqotho icebo lakhe lenziwa uLuther wafihlwa phambi kwabangane lezitha zakhe. Phakathi kohambo lwakhe lokuya ekhaya wathathwa, wahlukaniswa labantu ababehamba laye, wathathwa wayafihlwa edolobheni laseWartburg, endaweni eyayisithele ezintabeni.
