Deuteronomy
Key-word, “Obedience;” Key-verse, 10:12, 13.-This is the book of the second law. As the first tables were broken and replaced, so the law broken is made emphatic by repetition. The word “remember” occurs some eighteen times, and the deliverance from Egypt is constantly urged as a motive to obedience (cf. verse 15). Israel, about to possess the land, are reminded that this is the condition of entrance and continuance. Before Moses gives this new generation into Joshua’s charge, he rehearses the moral law.
