The expression “Those humble peasants ... had not by themselves arrived at the truth in opposition to the dogmas and heresies of the apostate church,” does not clearly express the writer’s idea. It should read: WWPGC 11.7
“Had not, without the assistance of others,” or “Had not themselves first arrived at the truth.” What follows shows that they were simply defending the faith of their fathers. WWPGC 11.8
