Crying Out for Help and Revival — May 30

Psalms 83-88

Psalms 83

1 Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 365N 150.1

2 For behold, Your enemies make a [a] tumult; And those who hate You have [b] lifted up their head. 365N 150.2

3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 365N 150.3

4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” 365N 150.4

5 For they have consulted together with one [c] consent; They [d] form a confederacy against You: 365N 150.5

6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites; 365N 150.6

7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; 365N 150.7

8 Assyria also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot. Selah 365N 150.8

9 Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera, As with Jabin at the Brook Kishon, 365N 150.9

10 Who perished at En Dor, Who became as refuse on the earth. 365N 150.10

11 Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, 365N 150.11

12 Who said, “Let us take for ourselves The pastures of God for a possession.” 365N 150.12

13 O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind! 365N 150.13

14 As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire, 365N 150.14

15 So pursue them with Your tempest, And frighten them with Your storm. 365N 150.15

16 Fill their faces with shame, That they may seek Your name, O Lord . 365N 150.16

17 Let them be [e] confounded and dismayed forever; Yes, let them be put to shame and perish, 365N 150.17

18 That they may know that You, whose name alone is the Lord , Are the Most High over all the earth. 365N 150.18

Psalms 84

1 How lovely [b] is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts! 365N 150.19

2 My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the Lord ; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 365N 150.20

3 Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young— Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, My King and my God. 365N 150.21

4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah 365N 150.22

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. 365N 150.23

6 As they pass through the Valley of [c] Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with [d] pools. 365N 150.24

7 They go from strength to strength; [e] Each one appears before God in Zion. 365N 150.25

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah 365N 150.26

9 O God, behold our shield, And look upon the face of Your [f] anointed. 365N 150.27

10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather [g] be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. 365N 150.28

11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. 365N 150.29

12 O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You! 365N 150.30

Psalms 85

1 Lord , You have been favorable to Your land; You have brought back the captivity of Jacob. 365N 150.31

2 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin. Selah 365N 150.32

3 You have taken away all Your wrath; You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger. 365N 150.33

4 Restore us, O God of our salvation, And cause Your anger toward us to cease. 365N 150.34

5 Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations? 365N 150.35

6 Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You? 365N 150.36

7 Show us Your mercy, Lord , And grant us Your salvation. 365N 150.37

8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to [a] folly. 365N 150.38

9 Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. 365N 150.39

10 Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed. 365N 150.40

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth, And righteousness shall look down from heaven. 365N 150.41

12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good; And our land will yield its increase. 365N 150.42

13 Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway. 365N 150.43

Psalms 86

1 Bow down Your ear, O Lord , hear me; For I am poor and needy. 365N 150.44

2 Preserve my [a] life, for I am holy; You are my God; Save Your servant who trusts in You! 365N 150.45

3 Be merciful to me, O Lord, For I cry to You all day long. 365N 150.46

4 [b] Rejoice the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. 365N 150.47

5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. 365N 150.48

6 Give ear, O Lord , to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. 365N 150.49

7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me. 365N 150.50

8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; Nor are there any works like Your works. 365N 150.51

9 All nations whom You have made Shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name. 365N 150.52

10 For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God. 365N 150.53

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord ; I will walk in Your truth; [c] Unite my heart to fear Your name. 365N 150.54

12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. 365N 150.55

13 For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of [d] Sheol. 365N 150.56

14 O God, the proud have risen against me, And a mob of violent men have sought my life, And have not set You before them. 365N 150.57

15 But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth. 365N 150.58

16 Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your maidservant. 365N 150.59

17 Show me a sign for good, That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, Because You, Lord , have helped me and comforted me. 365N 150.60

Psalms 87

1 His foundation is in the holy mountains. 365N 150.61

2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. 365N 150.62

3 Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God! Selah 365N 150.63

4 “I will make mention of [a] Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me; Behold, O Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia: ‘This one was born there.’ ” 365N 150.64

5 And of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her; And the Most High Himself shall establish her.” 365N 150.65

6 The Lord will record, When He registers the peoples: “This one was born there.” Selah 365N 150.66

7 Both the singers and the players on instruments say, “All my springs are in you.” 365N 150.67

Psalms 88

1 O Lord , God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You. 365N 150.68

2 Let my prayer come before You; [b] Incline Your ear to my cry. 365N 150.69

3 For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near to the grave. 365N 150.70

4 I am counted with those who go [c] down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength, 365N 150.71

5 [d] Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand. 365N 150.72

6 You have laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the depths. 365N 150.73

7 Your wrath lies heavy upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah 365N 150.74

8 You have [e] put away my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an abomination to them; I am shut up, and I cannot get out; 365N 150.75

9 My eye wastes away because of affliction. Lord , I have called daily upon You; I have stretched out my hands to You. 365N 150.76

10 Will You work wonders for the dead? Shall [f] the dead arise and praise You? Selah 365N 150.77

11 Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction? 365N 150.78

12 Shall Your wonders be known in the dark? And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 365N 150.79

13 But to You I have cried out, O Lord , And in the morning my prayer comes before You. 365N 150.80

14 Lord , why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me? 365N 150.81

15 I have been afflicted and ready to die from my youth; I suffer Your terrors; I am distraught. 365N 150.82

16 Your fierce wrath has gone over me; Your terrors have [g] cut me off. 365N 150.83

17 They came around me all day long like water; They engulfed me altogether. 365N 150.84

18 Loved one and friend You have put far from me, And my acquaintances into darkness. 365N 150.85
