Here’s some ideas to start you thinking of what you and your Sabbath School class could do together in your community and beyond:[71] CCL 45.2

  • Neighborhood Beautification: Organize clean-up days for parks, streets, or community gardens. Plant trees or flowers to improve aesthetics and air quality.
  • Food & Resource Assistance: Volunteer at a local food bank or soup kitchen. Organize donation drives for clothing, hygiene products, or school supplies. Deliver meals to homebound individuals.
  • Mentorship Programs: Mentor at-risk youth, offer career guidance to high school students, or tutor children who need academic support.
  • Senior Assistance: Help with errands or transportation for elderly neighbors. Organize social events or game nights for senior citizens.
  • Interfaith Collaboration: Partner with other faith-based organizations on joint community projects.
  • Beyond Home: Consider a Sabbath School short term mission trip with Maranatha or another humanitarian organization.

“Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good servants of God’s various gifts of grace.” 1 Peter 4:10 NCV CCL 45.3

“While helping the poor in temporal things, always keep in view their spiritual needs.” Ellen White in A Call to Stand Apart, p. 94 CCL 45.4

Reflect: What are some of the needs or challenges people face in your neighborhood or community? How could a Sabbath School outreach program address those needs while also sharing the gospel message? CCL 45.5
