Counsel #5 — World Mission Emphasis

Picture: Counsel #5 — World Mission Emphasis CCL 44.1

Sabbath school can be a powerful engine for outreach, training people to share the gospel message with others. Every Sabbath School should equip individuals — not just with knowledge, but with essential and practical skills in evangelism! How to lead discussions, conduct meetings, give a personal testimony of God’s work in life transformation, and effectively reach others for Christ are all crucial. The Sabbath school should guide and empower individuals to actively fulfill the gospel commission.[69] CCL 44.2

Some Sabbath schools organize Branch Sabbath Schools for children in the neighborhood. Young adults may be the teachers, craft leaders, praise team leaders, and outdoor education facilitators. Other Sabbath Schools adopt an overseas or local mission project, raising funds and resources to strengthen the initiative. Get creative with your mission emphasis![70] CCL 44.3

“Jesus said to the followers, ‘Go everywhere in the world. Tell the Good News to everyone.’” Mark 16:15 ICB CCL 44.4

“The Sabbath-school should be one of the greatest instrumentalities, and the most effectual in bringing souls to Christ. Our Sabbath-school workers need to be especially imbued with the Spirit of Christ. They can not be co-workers with Christ unless they have Him abiding in their hearts by faith….” Ellen White in Testimonies on Sabbath School Work, p. 20 CCL 44.5

Reflect: Whether you are teaching or assisting with children’s Sabbath School or a participant in young adult Sabbath School, how could you influence or invite each person in the class to accept Jesus as Lord and become His follower? CCL 44.6
