Counsel #7 — The Candlestick
Picture: Counsel #7 — The Candlestick CCW 52.1
In the first section of the tabernacle stood a seven-branched candlestick. Its purpose extended beyond simply lighting the room; it symbolized a deeper spiritual truth. Representing Jesus, the candlestick was always kept lit, echoing the idea that Jesus is the light of the world.[69] Jesus also encouraged His followers to be a light to the world.[70] Light dispels darkness, allowing us to see things clearly and truthfully, guiding us to live and navigate life in the way God intended.[71] CCW 52.2
“You shall make seven lamps for it, and they shall arrange its lamps so that they give light in front of it.” Exodus 25:37 NKJV CCW 52.3
“The candlestick was made of purest gold, and was kept burning night and day, and gave light to both apartments. The light of the lamps upon the candlestick reflected upon the boards plated with gold, at the sides of the building, and upon the sacred furniture, and upon the curtains of beautiful colors with cherubims wrought with threads of gold and silver, which appearance was glorious beyond description. No language can describe the beauty and loveliness, and sacred glory, which these apartments presented.” Ellen White in Spiritual Gifts, vol. 4a, p. 9.1 CCW 52.4
