Counsel #26 — What Jesus Wants Of You
Picture: Counsel #26 — What Jesus Wants Of You CCW 42.1
If Jesus hadn’t asked us to serve—just as He did on this earth—Christianity would be a mere theory, a laboratory concoction fit for the corridors of universities. But Christianity isn’t a theory—it’s a living principle, a reality, a worldview, a lifestyle. And that lifestyle calls for Christ’s followers to do what He did. He wants us to be true followers, examples to the world of His grace.[58] CCW 42.2
“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” Matthew 25:35, 36 CCW 42.3
“Good deeds are the fruit that Christ requires us to bear; kind words, deeds of benevolence, of tender regard for the poor, the needy, the afflicted. When hearts sympathize with hearts burdened with discouragement and grief, when the hand dispenses to the needy, when the naked are clothed, the stranger made welcome to a seat in your parlor and a place in your heart, angels are coming very near, and an answering strain is responded to in heaven. Every act of justice, mercy, and benevolence, makes melody in heaven.” Ellen White in Christian Service, p. 187 CCW 42.4
