How do you love your enemies? You can’t be friends with someone you hate; just as you can’t love someone who’s an enemy. It’s a logical conundrum, and Jesus knew it. The true meaning of love isn’t revealed in times of ease when those around you love you as much as you love them; it’s revealed in times of hardship, distress, and enmity. To have an original love—to love someone who doesn’t love you, and to pray for them—is the true revelation of God’s character in humanity. And as you pray for your enemies, you might be surprised to find them become your friends!^[57] CCW 41.2
