The rapid advancement of genetic engineering and cloning technologies has ignited a fervent debate within the Christian community. CSe 107.2

One pressing ethical issue is the potential for unintended consequences.^[106] As we delve deeper into genetic manipulation, there's a risk of creating unforeseen genetic inequalities. This could lead to a society where certain individuals, based on their genetic makeup, are deemed superior or inferior. Such a scenario not only contradicts the Christian belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every human life created in the image of God, but also has the potential to exacerbate existing social divisions. Furthermore, the widespread use of genetic engineering could erode human diversity, a cornerstone of God's creation. By manipulating the genetic code, we risk homogenizing the human population, diminishing the rich diversity of God’s creation. Such actions may inadvertently undermine God's plan for humanity and the unique qualities He has bestowed upon each individual. CSe 107.4

As Christians explore the frontiers of science, it is imperative to do so with humility and a deep reverence for life. By prayerfully considering the potential consequences of our actions and seeking guidance from God's Word, these technologies might be used for the benefit of all humanity.^[107] CSe 107.5
