There may be situations in which it is difficult to not hear the continual misuse of the name of God. His name may be taken in vain in a work environment by colleagues, at school by fellow students and teachers, or at family gatherings where not everyone has committed themselves to Christ Jesus. CLi 123.2

However, to deliberately choose entertainment that repeatedly uses profanity, and especially the name of God in a non-sacred manner may hurt the heart of God and separate us from Him (see Isaiah 59:2).^[117] He would like for us to come up to a higher ideal, that we may walk and talk with Him in sacred alliance, as did Enoch of old (see Genesis 5:21-24). While some dismiss profanity as a mere social convention, many followers of Jesus see it as a deeper issue with spiritual implications. CLi 123.4
