Counsel #2 — The Universality Of Music

Picture: Counsel #2 — The Universality Of Music CLi 73.1

Music is a gift of God woven throughout His creation. As a language of the soul, music connects us to something profound and eternal. While humans possess the unique ability to compose and perform complex musical structures, the essence of music is found throughout the natural world.[65] Birdsong, the haunting melodies of whales, and the rhythmic vibrations of insects all testify to the universal power of sound. Even our beloved pets often respond with joy and contentment to the harmonious notes of music. CLi 73.2

According to the Bible, music existed in heaven before the creation of human beings. In fact, everything that God created is described as having a capacity for praise, even if humans can’t hear or comprehend it as music. Pay attention to the music of nature around you and let your heart join in praise to God! CLi 73.3

“Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them.” Psalms 69:34 NKJV CLi 73.4

“From the solemn roll of the deep-toned thunder and old ocean's ceaseless roar, to the glad songs that make the forests vocal with melody, nature’s ten thousand voices speak His praise.” Ellen White in Child Guidance, p. 53 CLi 73.5

Reflect: What sounds of nature draw you to praise God? CLi 73.6
