Counsel #24 — Making God First
Picture: Counsel #24 — Making God First CLi 34.1
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to prioritize what seems urgent—careers, relationships, possessions, and financial security—over what truly matters: our relationship with God. Our choices reveal our priorities. We readily invest time in tangible pursuits like scrolling social media, earning money, driving nice cars, advancing our careers, or spending time with loved ones. But where does time with God fit into your day? CLi 34.2
As Christians, we’re called to put God first. Prioritizing Him means dedicating time to worship, prayer, studying His word, and serving Him. When we do, we experience profound peace and see growth in every area aligned with His purpose. Placing God above all else brings blessings beyond anything the world can offer. So, restructure your priorities, put God above all, and watch Him transform your life.[31] CLi 34.3
“In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:6 NIV CLi 34.4
“Man cannot show greater weakness than by thinking he will find more acceptance in the sight of men if he leaves God out of his assemblies. God must stand the highest. The wisdom of the greatest man is foolishness with Him.” Ellen White in The Upward Look, p. 81 CLi 34.5
Reflect: Does social media scrolling time interfere with making God the priority in your life? What will you do to change that? CLi 34.6
