It is true that exercise is essential for controlling weight and avoiding obesity. Because exercise burns calories, it creates an energy deficit that compels the body to use fat stores as fuel. Exercise also contributes to the maintenance and growth of muscle mass, which raises the body's resting metabolic rate (BMR) and the amount of calories burned. This helps to maintain a healthier body composition and aids in weight management when combined with the calories burned during exercise.[85] CWe 73.2

“But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:27 NKJV CWe 73.3

“Overeating is especially harmful to those who are sluggish in temperament; these should eat sparingly, and take plenty of physical exercise. There are men and women of excellent natural ability who do not accomplish half what they might if they would exercise self-control in the denial of appetite.” Ellen White in Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 138 CWe 73.4
