Appetite can also be a powerful force for good. Jesus Himself used the metaphor of hunger and thirst to describe our spiritual needs. In the Beatitudes, He declares blessed are "those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied" (Matthew 5:6). This hunger isn't a passive longing; it's an active pursuit of God and a deeper connection to Him, a yearning for a life lived according to His principles.[55] CWe 50.2

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18 NKJV CWe 50.3

“If you will go to work as Christ designs that His disciples shall, and win souls for Him, you will feel the need of a deeper experience and a greater knowledge in divine things, and will hunger and thirst after righteousness. You will plead with God, and your faith will be strengthened, and your soul will drink deeper drafts at the well of salvation. Encountering opposition and trials will drive you to the Bible and prayer. You will grow in grace and the knowledge of Christ, and will develop a rich experience.” Ellen White in Steps to Christ, p. 80 CWe 50.4

Reflect: Are there any distractions or activities that hinder your ability to nourish your spiritual appetite? How can you overcome these obstacles and dedicate more time and energy to spiritual growth? CWe 50.5
