Counsel #24 — Lost Soul

Spiritual sickness is a term that may not be familiar to most, but it’s a state that a large majority of the world is currently in. Whenever your connection with God weakens and you feel lost, empty, or overwhelmed by life’s challenges, this means that you are spiritually sick. Even if you feel confident in your relationship with God, it would be beneficial to do an inward reflection of your priorities, desires, actions, and faith life. If prayer feels meaningless, worship becomes routine, and purpose seems unclear, you may be spiritually unwell. CWe 34.2

Spiritual sickness can also impact your relationships, mindset, and overall sense of peace, making it harder to experience joy and fulfillment. If you feel like this reflects your situation, know that healing begins with a simple step: turning back to God. Honest prayer, reading the Bible, and surrounding yourself with spiritually supportive friends and family members can help rebuild trust and reconnect your heart to God. Spiritual health isn’t perfectionistic; it’s about progress and finding hope and strength by leaning into God’s love daily.[39] CWe 34.3

“When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.” Matthew 8:16 NIV CWe 34.4

“By sin we have been severed from the life of God. Our souls are palsied.” Ellen White in The Desire of Ages, p. 203 CWe 34.5
