Counsel #27 — Rest In Him

Picture: Counsel #27 — Rest In Him CWe 134.1

One of God’s greatest gifts to us is the gift of rest. As humans, we often believe we are in control, feeling that our daily efforts are essential. But God created our bodies with a need for sleep, a reminder that we are not meant to bear life’s burdens alone. Too often, we reject this gift of rest because we’re “too busy,” yet rest is essential for living a life grounded in faith. CWe 134.2

As Christians, we’re called to understand that peace, not anxiety, is what God desires for us. Allowing ourselves to rest each night is a daily act of surrender, trusting that God is in control. Just as God created the heavens, earth, and seas in six days and rested on the seventh, we, too, are called to prioritize rest. By embracing this divine rhythm, we align our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls with God’s Spirit, trusting in His perfect peace.[145] CWe 134.3

“I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me." Psalms 3:5 NLT CWe 134.4

“Though time is short, and there is a great work to be done, the Lord is not pleased to have us so prolong our seasons of activity that there will not be time for periods of rest, for the study of the Bible, and for communion with God.” Ellen White in The Youth’s Instructor, February 3, 1898, par. 2 CWe 134.5
