Counsel #24 — Practice joy!

Picture: Counsel #24 — Practice joy! CSL 102.1

For Christians, living a joy-filled life is not just about being happy; it's about experiencing true peace. One way to practice joy is by singing songs that remind us of heaven and God's goodness.34 These songs lift our spirits and help us focus on eternal things. When our hearts and minds are set on what God values, we avoid negativity and complaining; we create space for peace to grow. Another key to experiencing joy and peace is fixing disagreements with others. Finally, when we encourage other people, we not only make them feel good but also fill our own hearts with joy. When we actively practice these things — singing praises, avoiding negativity, seeking peace with others, and encouraging those around us — we open ourselves up to receive the peace that comes from God. Choosing joy in our daily lives is a powerful way to experience the wonderful gift of God's peace. Give it a try!35 CSL 102.2
