Counsel #14 — Peace in Conforming to God’s Will
Picture: Counsel #14 — Peace in Conforming to God’s Will CSL 92.1
Conforming to God's will includes not just obedience to His law but also involves sharing the good news13— the message of peace and salvation we find in Jesus, our King, Savior, and Lord. It's like you've found this amazing secret to happiness, and you just can't help but want to tell others about it. CSL 92.2
People who once felt close to God can drift away and find themselves in darkness when they start relying on their own ideas and desires instead of following God's path as revealed in the Bible. It makes sense, doesn't it? When we try to do things our own way, thinking we know best, we can end up feeling lost and disconnected. But when we make the choice to be obedient, when we choose to walk in God's strength, there's a sense of security and peace that comes.14 CSL 92.3
“Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.” Psalms 85:10 NKJV CSL 92.4
“The reason that many who once knew and loved the Savior are now in darkness, wandering far from Him, is because in self-confidence and self-sufficiency, they have followed their own inclinations. They walked not in the way of the Lord—the only way of peace and happiness. By disobedience they cut themselves off from receiving His blessings, when by obedience they might have gone forward in His strength.” Ellen White in To Be Like Jesus, p. 53 CSL 92.5
Reflect: Can you identify any areas in your life where self-confidence or self-sufficiency might be hindering your sense of peace or connection with God? CSL 92.6
