Counsel #9 — Peace Grows!

Picture: Counsel #9 — Peace Grows! CSL 87.1

Peace, as a fruit of the Spirit, is not a static state but a dynamic quality that grows and deepens through consistent cultivation. Just as physical muscles strengthen with exercise, our inner peace expands as we train our minds to rest in complete trust in Jesus. This process requires a deliberate choice to fix our thoughts on God’s word.3 CSL 87.2

The serene mind, nurtured by trust in the Bible’s promises, becomes a source of blessing to those around us. The calmness we cultivate radiates outward, influencing our interactions and creating a ripple effect of tranquility, which reflects upon us. CSL 87.3

The more we experience this "heavenly peace and quietude of mind," the more it increases within us. This growth is not merely an emotional or mental phenomenon but a spiritual transformation, a continuous process of becoming more attuned to Jesus, the Prince of Peace.4 CSL 87.4

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” 2 Peter 1:1, 2 NKJV CSL 87.5

“The serenity of mind which you may possess will bless all with whom you associate. This peace and calmness will, in time, become natural and will reflect its precious rays upon all around you, to be again reflected upon you. The more you taste this heavenly peace and quietude of mind, the more it will increase.” Ellen White in Testimonies for the Church, vol. 2, p. 327 CSL 87.6

Reflect: What role does the Bible, and specifically its promises, play in nurturing a "serene mind" in you? CSL 87.7
