Counsel #8 — Kindness brings peace

Kindness and peace of heart are deeply intertwined! When we choose to be kind, whether it's a small act of helping a neighbor or a larger gesture of supporting a cause, our hearts fill with a sense of calm and contentment. This active pursuit of opportunities to practice kindness through emulating Jesus’ life of service builds a foundation for inner peace.1 CSL 86.2
When our actions are driven by genuine compassion and a desire to help, we often experience a reduction in stress and anxiety. Focusing on the needs of others shifts our attention away from our own worries and concerns, creating space for tranquility. When we know we've acted with integrity and compassion, our minds are energized, and our spirits are refreshed. CSL 86.3
Today, look for ways to be kind to all of God’s creation--people, animals, and the planet! And if you sometimes feel uncaring, ask God to give your heart a “kindness tune-up!”2 CSL 86.4
“Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.” 1 Peter 3:11 NKJV CSL 86.5
“Peace of mind, which comes from pure and holy motives and actions, will give free and vigorous spring to all the organs of the body. Inward peace and a conscience void of offense toward God will quicken and invigorate the intellect like dew distilled upon the tender plants.... “ Ellen White in Lift Him Up , p. 94 CSL 86.6
Reflect: How do you define "genuine compassion," and how does it differ from simply performing a kind act? CSL 86.7
