Counsel #19 — Bible promises
Picture: Counsel #19 — Bible promises CSL 36.1
One of the primary ways God shares His heart and intentions with us is through the Bible. Within its pages you can find powerful promises — things God says He will do for us. When you really believe that these promises aren't just for everyone else, but they're meant for you personally, it's like saying, "Okay, God, I trust You, I believe this is for me." This act of faith deepens your connection with Jesus, strengthening the bond between you, allowing Him to draw you closer. CSL 36.2
The Bible even says that through these incredible promises, we can share in God's own nature! That means we’re not only being drawn closer to Him, but we’re also empowered to overcome sin in our lives, becoming more like Him every day. Believing God’s promises is transformational, changing how we live, think, and see ourselves through the lens of who God says we are.14 CSL 36.3
“By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” 2 Peter 1:4 ESV CSL 36.4
“It is the privilege of all who comply with the conditions to know for themselves that pardon is freely extended for every sin. Put away the suspicion that God's promises are not meant for you. They are for every repentant transgressor.” Ellen White in Steps to Christ, p. 52 CSL 36.5
Reflect: How do you see God's nature (e.g., love, joy, peace, patience) becoming more evident in your life as you engage with His promises? CSL 36.6
