Counsel #3 — God’s Word

Worry can be impacted by stressful situations, fear, circumstances in life, and even by our genetic make-up and temperament. Whatever the source of our worry and anxiety, God’s Word can help us manage our stress and negative emotions.[79] Reading Scripture provides hope as we learn to trust Jesus to carry our burdens and comfort us with His presence and protection. Scripture also provides counsel on how to live free from guilt and worry. CMH 77.2

Don’t hurry through your daily reading of the Bible. Take time to meditate, pray, and listen to Jesus’ voice through His Holy Book. Spend time with Him until you are refreshed by His presence and strengthened by His Spirit. Increased faith dispels worry! CMH 77.3

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 NKJV CMH 77.4

“Through the study of the Scriptures we obtain a correct knowledge of how to live so as to enjoy the greatest amount of unalloyed happiness.” Ellen White in Testimonies for the Church, vol. 3, p. 314 CMH 77.5

Reflect: Have you considered that you can never live a worry-free life until you submit to be molded by the Spirit of God? CMH 77.6
