Counsel #3 — Calm In Chaos

Picture: Counsel #3 — Calm In Chaos CMH 5.1

God is in control. He remains in charge of everything, no matter how crazy things get. He knows what's happening in the world and has an escape plan. Trusting in God's eternal plans for this world provides us with perfect peace during current chaos. CMH 5.2

However, trusting in God's sovereignty doesn't mean that we will never experience difficult times (John 16:33). But it does mean that we can have confidence that God is with us through every trial, and that if we are willing, He will use these experiences to strengthen our faith and deepen our connection to Him.[3] CMH 5.3

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.” Psalms 46:1-3 NKJV CMH 5.4

“Our divine Lord is equal to any emergency. With Him nothing is impossible…. Cast yourself wholly on His mercy. There is no difficulty within or without that cannot be surmounted in His strength. He who commits his soul to Jesus need not despond. We have an all-powerful Saviour.” Ellen White in In Heavenly Places, p. 17.3 CMH 5.5

Reflect: Compared to a year ago, do you feel more or less at peace when dealing with chaos and troubles? Explain why you experience more or less peace now than you did a year ago. CMH 5.6
