Counsel #2 — Bible Study

Picture: Counsel #2 — Bible Study CMH 4.1

Studying the Bible is important for spiritual growth, getting to know God's will for my life, and developing a closer relationship with Him. CMH 4.2

An important way for a Christian to receive peace from heaven is to make daily Bible study a personal priority by setting aside time to read, think about, and pray over God's Word.[2] The Bible is not social media. Though intensely interesting, the Bible does not promote what is novel, sensational, entertaining, or based on conspiracy theory. But it is full of stories of great men and women who learned to know and trust God in deeper ways — and even some who in their rebellion had no peace. CMH 4.3

A lot of Christians find it comforting and stress-relieving that God's Bible promises are always true. The Bible is a tried and tested book that has the power to reform our hearts and minds to no longer suffer from fear, but rather live in peace and trust in God. CMH 4.4

“My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands, for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.” Proverbs 3:1, 2 NKJV CMH 4.5

“The spiritual life is built up from the food given to the mind; and if we eat the food provided in the Word of God, spiritual and mental health will be the result.” Ellen White in The Review and Herald, March 22 issue, 1906, par. 6 CMH 4.6

Reflect: Describe your aim for studying the Bible. For instance, is your Bible study more a ritual, a gathering of information or a relational experience with God? CMH 4.7
