Counsel #7 — Lack Of Trust In God's Providence
Picture: Counsel #7 — Lack Of Trust In God&Apos;S Providence CMH 33.1
Failure to really believe we are in God’s hands through trials and challenges causes a lot of our stress and insecurity. These hardships are not punishments but steppingstones for us to draw closer to God and strengthen our trust in Him. Jesus Himself said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) It is through these challenges that we can develop our faith and become stronger in our relationship with God. CMH 33.2
Just like our physical muscles need exercise to become stronger, our faith also needs to be tested and challenged so that it will grow. Every time we say, “I choose to trust God with this and not give in to my fears,” we become more secure and resilient.[31] CMH 33.3
“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You…. In God I have put my trust; I will not fear.” Psalms 56:3, 4 NKJV CMH 33.4
“We cannot dishonor [God] more than to distrust Him.” Ellen White in Signs of the Times, September 15, 1887, par.6 CMH 33.5
Reflect: When facing difficulties and fears, do you find yourself struggling to trust in God's providence? Remind yourself that every step you take to overcome your anxieties and lean on God strengthens your faith. CMH 33.6
