Sometimes healing doesn’t come from another self-help book or social media post, but can instead come from simply stepping outside. In the busyness of today’s society, there’s something sacred about standing under a beautiful blue sky or walking in a tranquil forest where your to-do list doesn’t exist. Nature isn’t just beautiful - it’s restorative. CI 177.2
Even science backs this up! Studies show that time in green spaces reduces stress, boosts overall mood, sharpens concentration, and improves self-esteem. Even short walks in natural settings can decrease cortisol levels and increase feelings of connection and peace. It’s as if God wired the outdoors to whisper, “Your part of something bigger, and you’re deeply loved.” Whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed or mentally bogged down, try going for a walk in a nearby park, or planting something in your yard. Stargazing, walking the dog, or even just sitting quietly under a tree can do wonders for your mood. If you can’t get outside much, bring nature inside by setting up houseplants and opening windows to let natural light in. In hectic moments, never underestimate the power of God’s creation.[193] CI 177.3
