What does it mean to be strong? Unlike the world’s standards, godly strength isn’t measured by muscle or volume. It’s measured by how a man uses his influence to lift others up, especially the ones who are overlooked, mistreated, or ignored. CI 138.2

A man who follows Christ won’t look away when he sees someone being bullied, manipulated, or silenced. Instead, He’ll step in and try to de-escalate the situation, speaking the truth with love. Also, he’ll make space for the hurting and offer protection without seeking recognition. This is the kind of strength Jesus also modeled. For example, when the townsmen were ready to stone the woman caught in adultery, Jesus stood between her and her accusers. When the outcasts, the lepers, and the brokenhearted showed up, Jesus didn’t avoid them — He embraced them! As a man, being a defender can start in your school, your home, your job, or in your friendships. Who around you is being unfairly criticized, excluded, or taken advantage of? God is calling you to be strong for a purpose; to use your strength for the good of others.[148] CI 138.3

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” Proverbs 31:8 NIV CI 138.4

“The lesson that in helping others we ourselves receive help, must be urged upon young believers continually…” Ellen White in Welfare Ministry, p. 305 CI 138.5

Reflect: Is there someone in your life who needs you to defend them right now? CI 138.6
