Counsel #9 — Positive Vibes Only

Picture: Counsel #9 — Positive Vibes Only CR 11.1

While it’s good to support friends during tough times, it’s never okay to hang around consistently negative people. Getting caught up with friends who always gossip, complain, or see the worst in every situation will drain you mentally, physically, and emotionally. 2 CR 11.2

Can you imagine hanging out with someone who never has anything positive to say? After a while, their negativity will rub off on you, making you feel anxious, frustrated, or even resentful. Instead of allowing this type of energy to have access to your spirit, set clear boundaries on who you allow in your space. Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you, especially in times of personal struggle and emotional turmoil. There’s nothing worse than confiding in a friend about something bothering you, only to have them add to your stress by being negative! Whenever you’re in a rut, ask God to give you the courage to pursue joy, positivity, and faithful support. CR 11.3

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20 NIV CR 11.4

“When the character is lacking in purity, when sin has become a part of the character, it has a bewitching power that is equal to the intoxicating glass of liquor.” Ellen White in Maranatha, p. 229 CR 11.5

Reflect: How many of your friends are constantly negative? Does being around them make you feel better, or worse? CR 11.6
