Every time you interact with someone, whether it’s in person, over text, or online, you’re showing them something about what you believe. As a follower of Jesus, your social life isn’t just about being friendly or having fun; it’s an opportunity to reflect Him. People are always watching, even when you don’t realize it.[59] CR 59.2
The way you respond to conflict, include others, or even joke around communicates something about your character and your faith. Realize that the gospel isn’t just a message we share with words. It’s something we have to live. When you show compassion to someone who’s struggling, forgive when it’s hard, or stand up for what’s right even when it’s unpopular, you’re modeling Christ. Your life will become an invitation for others to know Him through how you act, so every decision you make must be in-step with the Holy Spirit’s direction, correction, and re-direction. So, the next time you hang out with friends or meet someone new, consider: Are they seeing Jesus in me? In the end, the ultimate goal of socializing isn’t just connection, it’s transformation. CR 59.3
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NIV CR 59.4
