Counsels on Relationships
Counsel #20 — The Godhead

At the center of Christianity is the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit - three distinct beings united in perfect love. From eternity, the Trinity has existed in constant relationship, showing us that connection is not a human invention, but grounded in the very nature of God. CR 51.2
God the Father loves and initiates relationship, not only within the Trinity but also with us. He did the most difficult thing by sending His Son into the world to draw us back to Himself. God the Son, Jesus, is also a perfect Example of what relational love looks like. He came down to earth and walked among people, healed the broken, welcomed the outcasts, and gave His life on the cross so we could be reconciled to God. Lastly, God the Holy Spirit lives in believers today, granting discernment, wisdom, and empowering us to love and serve others well. God’s love is active, sacrificial, and just. When we socialize with love, inclusion, and purpose, as the Trinity does — and has from the very beginning, we can better reflect the relational heart of God.[51] CR 51.3
“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…” Genesis 1:26 NIV CR 51.4
“We are to co-operate with the three highest powers in heaven, - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost…” Ellen White in Evangelism, p. 617 CR 51.5
Reflect: In what ways can your relationships reflect the unity of the Trinity? CR 51.6
