Worshiping together in marriage is more than just about sharing a pew when you go to church. More so, it’s about centering your relationship on something bigger than both of you. Seeking God with your spouse provides an instant reminder that your marriage isn’t just about mutual love, but also includes mutual surrender to God’s will. CR 260.2

When you attend church together, you’re instantly creating space for shared spiritual growth. Hearing the same teaching, experiencing the same praise, and opening the door for deeper conversations about faith, conviction, and hope will further increase you and your partner’s faith life, as these shared moments will become anchors when life gets overwhelming. If your spouse doesn’t attend, continue going faithfully! Your spiritual consistency can serve as a quiet witness to your spouse, especially if they’re struggling with having strong faith through long seasons of turmoil and tribulation. As a Christian, your faith is the most important component of your relationship with God. Worshipping with your spouse will connect your soul to His truth and soften your heart toward your partner in ways you never thought possible.[278] CR 260.3

“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 NIV CR 260.4

“The duty to worship God is based upon the fact that He is the Creator and that to Him all other beings owe their existence.” Ellen White in The Great Controversy, p. 436 CR 260.5
