We’re constantly surrounded by sights and sounds - music, ads, shows, images, conversations. While not all of it is bad, not all is harmless either. The wrong influence doesn’t always look dangerous, and at times, it can look entertaining, attractive, or even normal. Over time, repeated exposure to what’s impure will subtly reshape the heart.[239] CR 228.2

As followers of Christ, we’re called to be mindful of what we consume. Philippians 4:8 tells us to focus on what is pure, lovely, and admirable. That doesn’t mean you have to live in a bubble, but it does mean you should regularly ask, “Is this drawing me closer to God or pulling me away?” Couples can start by making intentional media choices for the family. What do you watch together? What do you allow your children to hear? Are you filling your home with worldly noise, or with messages that build peace and character? What you take in influences what you give out, and the more you feed your minds with truth and beauty, the more you can reflect that in your relationships and homes.[240] CR 228.3

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” Matthew 6:22 NIV CR 228.4

“You will have to become a faithful sentinel over your eyes, ears, and all your senses…” Ellen White in Child Guidance, p. 464 CR 228.5

Reflect: Is what you watch and listen to strengthening your walk with Jesus, or dulling your spirit? CR 228.6
