Counsel #15 — Dear Mama

Picture: Counsel #15 — Dear Mama CR 220.1

In today’s society, being a good mother is likened to someone who always has the laundry folded, the snacks packed, and the kids perfectly taken care of. That’s what Western culture often celebrates - how much a mom can juggle without falling apart. Thankfully, God doesn’t measure motherhood success by checklists. CR 220.2

Despite societal expectations, motherhood that matters isn’t about having it all together all the time. It’s about being present in the chaos, faithful in the small things, and being emotionally, physically, and spiritually intentional for the family. From day one, a mother helps shape the atmosphere of the home, as her words, tone, and even her silence can plant seeds of confidence or insecurity. Scripture describes a godly mother as being wise, steady, and full of kindness. Proverbs 31 describes a woman whose strength is quiet but powerful. She doesn’t just manage her home - she nurtures the life inside it. She corrects with grace, prays over her children when no one sees, and continuously shows up, especially on the hard days.[231] CR 220.3

“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” Proverbs 31:26 NIV CR 220.4

“Mothers…Your compassionate Redeemer is watching you in love and sympathy…” Ellen White in Welfare Ministry, p. 152 CR 220.5

Reflect: What kind of mother are you becoming, and do your actions reflect the values you want to pass on to your children? CR 220.6
