Counsel #25 — Moments Of Peace

Spending time alone in a sacred space empowers you as a teen to reflect on your emotions, deepen your relationship with God, and discover a stronger sense of self. Life’s constant demands can feel overwhelming, making moments of solitude crucial for mental clarity, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth. CR 137.2
God calls His children to protect their minds from distractions that can lead to mental spaces where doubt, confusion, and dissatisfaction thrive. When we find ourselves filled with negativity or longing for peace, it’s a signal to draw closer to God. A sacred space doesn’t need to be elaborate or obvious; God desires a simple, private place — like a bedroom or spot in nature—where you can tune out the world and hear the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Over time, the worries and pressures of the outside world will lose their grip, and God’s purpose for you and your relationship with your family will become evident.[130] CR 137.3
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6 NIV CR 137.4
“Have a place for secret prayer. Jesus had select places for communion with God, and so should we. We need often to retire to some spot, however humble, where we can be alone with God.” Ellen White in Homeward Bound, p. 160 CR 137.5
Reflect: Where can you create a sacred space to spend time with God? CR 137.6
