The Great Second Advent Movement: Its Rise and Progress
South Lancaster Academy
The people of New England began their school in the house of worship at South Lancaster, Mass. Through the untiring efforts of Elder S. N. Haskell and the sacrifices of our people in New England, a suite of school buildings was ready for dedication in the autumn of 1884. The buildings owned by the South Lancaster Academy Association were then five in number, two being entirely new. The academy building was 60 x 65 feet, and the other newly erected building, the students’ home, 36 x 88 feet. These were dedicated Oct. 19, 1884. GSAM 395.1
This institution, after twenty-one years of efficient service, is still prospering, and has sent out earnest laborers in the Master’s cause to various parts of the world. The principal of the academy now is Frederick Griggs, who also serves as secretary for the Educational Department of the General Conference. GSAM 395.2
