E. E. Andross to Brother, Nov. 17, 1909

Los Angeles, Calif. Nov. 17, 1909.

Dear Brother:—

After careful consideration, it has seemed best to call for a council of the Conference Committee, with other leading brethren, to consider some important matters that must receive our consideration at an early date, and upon which we must reach some decision. Hence I am calling for this meeting to be held Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 P.M. at the Conference Office, and also Monday morning from 8 to 12 A.M. I would convene this meeting earlier on Sunday but for the Religious Liberty Institute which will also close Sunday at 12:30. LLM 457.6

Among the items to receive consideration are, first, the matter of incorporating the proposed medical college at Loma Linda. We should give this careful consideration and reach some decision as to our immediate course. Another is the matter of financial management of our institutions. Up to the present we have not succeeded in bringing them to a place where they are all meeting operating expenses. I believe that we ought to do everything we can to accomplish this. It has seemed to some of us that some changes might be made with a view to accomplishing this end. LLM 457.7

Another matter for consideration is that of an action taken at the Annual Conference in 1907 regarding our financial policy in this conference, which I wish to bring before the council for their advice. There are other matters that ought to be considered relative to the work in the field, but these are the matters that will doubtless require the most careful thought, and I trust that all the members of our Committee and the other brethren who are invited will make special effort to attend the council. Eld. Cottrell and Eld. Corliss from the North will be with us. LLM 458.1

Trusting the Lord may guide us in the decision that we reach, I remain, LLM 458.2

Your brother,
E. E. Andross.
