Dear Brother:—
Your letter of the 9th just received. I am glad to hear of the counsel received from Sister White. LLM 457.1
It will be well to look up carefully just what the state here does require, and it will enable you to get a better start, altho on a small scale, and you will have a better standing and it will gradually grow up. The great difficulty with the American Medical was the State told the directors of the College that they must have certain conditions present, and having reached that condition they must then have men of standing. These men gladly gave their services, but they at once said they must get in the College of Associations or they would not feel like giving their time to that which did not have the standing of the colleges in the association. The request had to be complied with and in this way, step by step they were led into what finally was very deep water. LLM 457.2
We must fight this and endeavor to protect and save men from getting into such a condition that would lead one this way. (805) This is what I am anxious about. I believe this enterprise can be carried on with the Lord's help, by watching these little openings that gradually slip themselves in, and give us the influence that comes from the laws. LLM 457.3
We shall be glad to do all we can to help the work and shall be glad to hear of your progress from time to time. LLM 457.4
Wishing you the Lord's richest blessings, I am, LLM 457.5
Yours in the work,
Howard F. Rand.
